Sredded crop residue ready to mix with microbes to make organic fertiliser
Already farmers are shredding their crop residue. They mix it wth microbes to make nutrient rich organic fertiliser which they then return to the soil. The surplus, there is always a surplus, is sold. Their crops too will be certified organic - no chemical fertilisers used, no pesticides used, no residue burnt - and will be safe on the dinner plate. Smart restaurants, food outlets and households will be reassured and want to buy their crop.
Off The Ground
Our design allows the crop residue to be shred into very fine pieces. This is mixed with microbes provided free by the Thai Government. This makes organic compost, humus and fertiliser to improve the soil and the surplus (there is always surplus) can be sold.
Beginnings

The Shredder was designed by Rotarians in Lampang. We asked farmers to stop burning crop residue as the smoke was poisoning the air we all breathe. Their answer was that they had no alternative means to manage the volume of residue their crop generated.

Ploughing Ahead
The Shredder is durable and fits on the back of a  pickup truck. It can be shared over 200 rai of land, which normally averages about 20 separate plots of farmland. It encourages farmers to cooperate with one another and work together to achieve economies of scale.
